Debatable’s NOT Dividable’s
This section Debatable’s NOT Dividable’s has as its sole purpose to expose the modern day heretical teachings that are currently taught in many American churches. Let me say up front that NOT ALL churches in America are teaching these heresies as truth. A majority of them are as they hold fast theological & denominational hierarchal mandates passed down. The essential truth I want to declare is that an individual can teach heretical theological rabbit trails and still be within the mainstream of Christendom. The topics of discussion I am exposing ARE NOT essential Christian doctrine. These topics are nondeterminate to the eternal salvation of a human soul. Yet they are not truth and I have been on a search for The Truth since 1995.
I was born again in 1984 and like every good sheep I just went to church and embraced what I was told was truth. Yet after 4 years of formal biblical studies my eyes began to see some inconsistencies. Then graciously Holy Spirit introduced to me to the apostolic teachings of the 2nd century Christians. Their writings just reinforced the Biblical truths that are echoed throughout the 27 books of the New Testament. Learning what happened to the Pre-Nicene church and who was responsible for the dilution of biblical truth down through the past 1800 years has been fascinating. Knowing what I know wasn’t enough for me; I need to know why I know what I know. Through these topics I hope to challenge you to ask yourself, “why do I believe what I believe?”

How to Read and Understand the Bible
It has been said that “you can’t just read the Bible, you have to read the Bible”. While on the surface a seemingly confusing contradiction appears, but peel back the layers of that phrase and you will come to the core of Biblical hermeneutics.
First the term hermeneutics watered down to its least common denominator means the science of interpretation. Don’t let the largeness of the word side-track you. It simply means interpreting what you have read.

Tithing…The Third Sacrament of the Church
A majority of American Christianity teaches that members of the church of Jesus Christ is commanded to give 10% (tithe) of their income to God. If you a don’t then you are “robbing” God. This Mosaic Law tenant has NO PLACE in New Testament tenant of Christian Liberty. If you didn’t have a multi million dollar mortgage then you wouldn’t have to shame the sheep into giving. Paul rebuked the Galatians for such teachings.

Rapture: The Deception of the Imminent Return of Christ
The current “Rapture Teaching” has its foundation in 1 Thes 4:17. While yes a rapture will happen it certainly is not imminent. This scripture in context will take place at the return of Christ to the Earth to bind Satan 1000 years and instill His Millennial Reign. At this season of the age Christ is not even close to returning.

Righteousness: Is my righteousness really “filthy rags?”
Have you ever heard that your righteousness is as filthy rags? The scripture used justify this false teaching is Isaiah 64:6. Many use it to declare that you can do nothing to please God. It is true that we can do no “good works” to earn our salvation. But doing works of righteousness this side of eternity is absolutely essential to our Jesus Journey.

Unconditional Eternal Security?
The American church teaches that eternal security is unconditional. In other words you can never “lose your salvation.” They believe that once you are in the Kingdom you can never be out of the Kingdom. This false teaching is producing the exact opposite result that it tends to achieve. People are ending up in hell because the don’t live godly lives. It takes faith to be saved and it takes faith to stay saved.

The Rich Man and Lazarus
The American church teaches that once a “Christian” dies their Spirit is instantly in the presence of the Lord in Heaven. Yet Jesus told us the story (not a parable) about the rich man and Lazarus (Luke 16). Here we are told of two existing locations. Hades is for the wicked and Paradise for the righteous. These two locations are still populated with souls until their respective judgment day. Once judged all souls will be sent to heaven or hell.

Born a Sinner?
The debate continues raging to this day. “Am I a sinner because I sin?” or “Do I sin because I am a sinner?” In the American church members are told they are born sinners. Being told we have been born with a sin nature and we can’t help ourselves. Teachers that hold to this doctrine clearly do not understand the fundamental nature of sin. Humans are not born sinners they become sinners.
