"Go therefore and make....
Disciples
The year is 1974 and the song tops Billboard Hot 100 songs. Ironically it will be Harry Chapin’s only #1 song in his entire musical career. Cats in the Cradle is a sad song about a Father not taking the time to spend with his newborn son. Yet as the boy grows, he continues the mantra of adoration “I am gonna be like you Dad, you know I am going to be like you.”. As the song continues it is clear that the boy (now a man) had sadly grown up to be just like his Dad.
In an odd way that is what a disciple is. Not just a learner but an adherent. Adherent to a teaching that becomes a lifestyle. While it is our sincere desire NOT to grow relationships mirrored in the song, we do want to mirror what Jesus taught.
